Hyderabad [20th Feb 2025] The Institute successfully organized an orientation workshop dedicated to compiling a Large Language Model (LLM) for the development of a Sindhi ChatBot. The session took place at the Committee Room of AMBILE Hyderabad and was attended by esteemed professionals from XFlow Research Inc., a Silicon Valley-based firm. The delegation included Mr. Umer Hanif, Country Manager of XFlow Research Inc., along with Engr. Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah and Engr. Abdul Razaq Umrani, experts in data science. Additionally, Mr. Munawar Memon, Mr. Rabail Aziz and Ms. Manzar Aziz professionals of the AMBILE also participated in the workshop.

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Amar Fayaz Buriro, Director of the Institute, who emphasized the urgent need for developing an LLM for the Sindhi language. He elaborated on the significance of integrating Sindhi into modern AI applications, ensuring its preservation and global recognition. This initiative follows the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Institute and XFlow Research Inc. for the digital advancement of the Sindhi language.

Mr. Umer Hanif, while addressing the participants, reiterated the commitment of XFlow Research Inc. toward the Sindhi language. He highlighted that the development of AI tools for Sindhi aligns with the vision of Mr. Ashok Malani, CEO of XFlow Research Inc., who has a keen interest in merging Sindhi with cutting-edge technologies. He emphasized that this collaboration would contribute significantly to the preservation and promotion of Sindhi, one of the world’s oldest languages.

A key outcome of the workshop was the mutual agreement to develop a primary ChatBot focused on Shah Jo Risalo, the timeless collection of poetry by the revered Sindhi Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. Given that multiple versions of Shah Jo Risalo have been compiled by various scholars, this ChatBot will serve as a comprehensive AI-driven platform where users can ask questions about Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, his poetry, and his philosophy. This ChatBot will be made available on https://bhitt.ai, offering deep insights into the poet’s life and message. Meanwhile, work on the full-scale LLM for the Sindhi language is set to continue, with plans to launch its first version for public use and integration with mainstream LLMs through open-source platforms.

Further discussions during the workshop revolved around future initiatives in Natural Language Processing (NLP) for Sindhi. It was informed that AMBILE is developing various NLP tools for Sindhi, ensuring their international distribution and integration with global AI mechanisms and robotics technologies.

The session also reviewed the progress of the Sindhi WordNet project, an ongoing initiative at the Institute. It was decided that after the completion of Sindhi WordNet in December 2025, additional NLP tools such as Part-of-Speech (POS) tagging, sentiment analysis, lemmatization (LEMA), and text analyzers would be developed. Additionally, the Institute aims to launch a voice synthesis system based on the available linguistic data. To encourage further research and technological advancements, the developed language model will be released as open-source, enabling future enhancements by the global developer community.

Concluding the workshop, Mr. Amar Fayaz Buriro, Director of the Institute, expressed gratitude to the participants on behalf of the Culture Department, Government of Sindh. He reaffirmed the commitment to advancing the Sindhi language through AI-driven technologies and ensuring its seamless integration into the digital landscape. The workshop marked a significant milestone in the journey towards the linguistic and technological evolution of Sindhi, setting the stage for further groundbreaking developments in the field of AI.
