About Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering

AMBILE is an institute under administrative control of the Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Archives Department, Government of Sindh established for bringing Sindhi language at par with national and international languages in all computational process and Natural language processing.

Timeline of the Establishment.

  • Idea development: 2016
  • Announced by Hon'able Minister: 2017
  • Foundation of Building: 2018
  • Innaguration of the institute: 2019

In recognition to services of Abdul-Majid Bhurgri, who is the founder of Sindhi computing, GoS has established the institute after his name. The institute was primarily initiated on the concept given by a language engineer and linguist Amar Fayaz Buriro in briefing to the Minister, CTA&A, GoS, Syed Sardar Ali Shah on 21 February 2017 on celebration of International Mother Language Day in Sindhi Language Authority, Hyderabad, Sindh. The minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah had announced the Institute. Then, GoS added the development scheme in the Budget of fiscal year 2017-2018.

Ongoing Projects

With a minimum team comprised on dedicated workers, AMBILE has initiate foundational projects which are going to be milestones in Sindhi computing. Development and compilation of Sindhi corpus and other data collection is in under process. For a brief introduction here are some projects which are under development.
