Larkano (07th September, 2024) – A distinguished lecture on “Sindhi Language in the Age of AI” was delivered by Mr. Amar Fayaz Buriro, Director of the Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering, to an audience of students from various institutions and universities at Lincoln Corner, located in the Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Memorial Library, Larkano. The event was hosted by Mr. Shamsuddin Kalhoro, Assistant Director of the Library, and Mr. Muhammad Sario, Coordinator of Lincoln Corner.

The program commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a captivating performance by renowned singer Mr. Ashiq Nizamani, who presented the Vai of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, setting a reflective tone for the session. Mr. Shamsuddin Kalhoro then introduced the aims and objectives of the lecture series, emphasizing the importance of understanding the evolving landscape of language and technology.

In his lecture, Mr. Amar Fayaz Buriro emphasized that Sindhi is one of the world’s oldest languages, possessing a rich repository of etymological knowledge. He noted that while artificial intelligence (AI) presents significant challenges to various professions and languages, there is an opportunity to harness AI’s potential through dedicated efforts. Mr. Buriro highlighted the importance of contributing Sindhi folk wisdom in textual and video formats across various online platforms, as these inputs could become integral to AI’s language libraries, training the AI systems with Sindhi data.

He further encouraged students to participate actively in the AI revolution by contributing their research and projects, reinforcing that Sindhi remains a fertile language in online databases. However, more efforts are needed to enrich the Sindhi language presence in the AI ecosystem.

The lecture concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, during which Mr. Buriro provided insightful solutions to the students’ queries, sparking further interest in the intersection of Sindhi language and artificial intelligence.
