On March 31st, 2022, the Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering proudly announced the release of the Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) Scripts Font. This significant development aligns with the Department of Culture, Government of Sindh’s celebration of the “Year 2022” as the Centennial of Mohenjo Daro’s excavation.

The newly introduced IVC Scripts Font encompasses a range of scripts under a unified umbrella concept, including:

  1. Mohenjo Daro (Indus) Script
  2. Khudawadi Script
  3. Perso-Arabic Script used in Shah Jo Ganj
  4. Perso-Arabic Script suggested by Ernest Trumpp
  5. Modern Perso-Arabic Script

This initiative marks the introductory phase of the “Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) Scripts Font” project, with plans to incorporate additional scripts in future updates. The goal is to create a rich resource for future scholars, particularly those eager to explore and understand the early scripts of the Sindhi language.

In developing this font, we have meticulously crafted all signs and seals of early Sindhi scripts to meet the standards of the Unicode Consortium. This effort aims to significantly aid scholars in their research and understanding of these ancient scripts.

The Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering is committed to fostering a deeper appreciation and knowledge of the Sindhi language’s historical roots, ensuring that these invaluable scripts are preserved and accessible for future generations.
