
On 1st July 2025, Mr. Khair Muhammad Kalwar, Provincial Secretary for the Culture, Tourism, Antiquities & Archives Department, Government of Sindh, paid an official visit to the Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering (AMBILE), Hyderabad. The visit was warmly welcomed by Mr. Amar Fayaz Buriro, Director of the Institute, who personally received the honorable Secretary and facilitated a comprehensive tour of all major sections of the Institute.
During the tour, the Secretary visited the Language Laboratory, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Section, and Data Analysis Unit, where he was briefed in detail on the scope, operations, and output of each domain. A formal presentation was held in the meeting room, led by Mr. Amar Fayaz Buriro, where both ongoing initiatives and completed projects were showcased.
Mr. Zulfiqar Panhwar, Director of the Sindh Provincial Museum, also participated in the visit. One of the most appreciated initiatives during the briefing was Wakeel – an AI-based Sindhi chatbot designed to offer legal assistance in the Sindhi language. The guests expressed their admiration for this impactful innovation and collectively agreed to hold its official launch ceremony in the first week of August 2025.
In addition to Wakeel, a range of forthcoming projects were presented, including Sindh.AI, the AI-based Sindhi Learning App for children, and the Sindhi WordNet project. These initiatives are set to enhance Sindhi language access, education, and digital representation on a broader scale.
During the session, the Institute’s existing challenges were also candidly discussed. The Honorable Secretary, who is also a Board Member of AMBILE, proposed practical and encouraging solutions for the identified issues. He also emphasized the importance of the upcoming Sindhi Voice Collection Project, suggesting proactive collaboration with the Sindhi departments of various universities across the province to ensure community participation.
The visit concluded on a highly positive note, with the Honorable Secretary expressing deep appreciation for the work carried out by the Institute. He lauded the innovation, dedication, and potential of AMBILE’s projects to meaningfully benefit the Sindhi-speaking community through technological empowerment and linguistic preservation.
