On October 3rd, 2024, Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design, and Heritage, Sukkur, hosted an insightful seminar titled “Harnessing AI to Sindhi Language.” The seminar aimed to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in preserving and promoting the Sindhi language. The keynote speaker for the event was Mr. Amar Fayaz Buriro, Director of the Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering (AMBILE).

In his address, Mr. Buriro highlighted a range of innovative applications developed at AMBILE, focusing on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its role in the preservation and revitalization of the Sindhi language. He emphasized the potential of AI technologies in overcoming challenges faced in linguistic conservation and how these technologies can breathe new life into the Sindhi language. The lecture also covered the future opportunities that AI presents in maintaining linguistic heritage through advanced tools and software developed at AMBILE.

Following the lecture, a highly engaging Q&A session was conducted where students and faculty had the opportunity to raise questions regarding the applications of AI in language engineering. Mr. Buriro provided in-depth responses, sharing his insights on both technical and practical aspects of the work being carried out at AMBILE.

The seminar concluded with a sincere vote of thanks delivered by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain Khand, who emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in safeguarding the Sindhi language using cutting-edge technologies like AI. He further lauded AMBILE’s initiatives in this domain and encouraged future partnerships between the university and the institute.

This seminar marked a significant step towards raising awareness and fostering collaboration for the preservation of Sindhi language through AI-driven solutions.
