On March 19, 2025, an important meeting was held at the office of the Chairman, Department of Software Engineering, University of Sindh, Jamshoro. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Mr. Amar Fayaz Buriro, Director of the Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering (AMBILE), Prof. Dr. Lachman Das Dhomeja, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Prof. Dr. Kamran Taj Pathan, Chairman, Department of Software Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Arifa Bhutto, Focal Person, Technology Incubation Center, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, University of Sindh.

During the meeting, Mr. Buriro presented AMBILE’s newsletters to Prof. Dr. Lachman Das Dhomeja, who commended the institute’s dedicated efforts in preserving and promoting the Sindhi language; one of the oldest languages in the world. He particularly appreciated the Bhittaipedia project, recognizing it as a significant milestone in the digital advancement of Sindhi linguistic resources.

A key outcome of the meeting was an agreement between AMBILE and the Department of Software Engineering to organize a collaborative seminar following Eid-ul-Fitr. The Department of Software Engineering will host the event, where AMBILE’s delegation will deliver lectures. Both institutions will mutually select students who will be assigned tasks related to the development of Natural Language Processing (NLP) projects for the Sindhi language. The final-year students will work on these projects to address critical issues in computational linguistics, and upon successful completion, the solutions will be launched for public benefit. AMBILE will formally recognize these student-led projects and certify participants, while the department will evaluate their work as part of their academic curriculum.

Furthermore, the meeting established a long-term collaboration between AMBILE and the University of Sindh for the development of Sindhi language databases and Large Language Models (LLMs). This partnership aims to enhance the efficiency of AI-driven linguistic solutions by leveraging the expertise of students, researchers, and faculty members. By fostering research-based manpower, the initiative seeks to ensure the Sindhi language’s presence in emerging AI platforms.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to preserving, promoting, and effectively utilizing the Sindhi language in AI applications. The collaborative vision between AMBILE and the University of Sindh’s Software Engineering Department is expected to drive innovative research and development in Sindhi computational linguistics, empowering students to contribute meaningfully to the future of AI-driven language technologies.
