Hyderabad, July 17, 2025. The Abdul Majid Bhurgri Institute of Language Engineering (AMBILE) had the distinct honor of hosting Professor Dr. Khalil-Ur-Rehman Khoumbati, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh, Jamshoro. This visit marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to foster collaboration between academia and cutting-edge computational linguistic research in Sindhi.

The Vice-Chancellor was warmly received and guided by Mr. Amar Fayaz Buriro, Director of AMBILE, who facilitated an in-depth tour of each section of the Institute. During the visit, Dr. Khoumbati engaged directly with the AI development team, holding meaningful conversations around the present and future integration of Sindhi language with Artificial Intelligence technologies.

Mr. Abdul Razaq, a senior AI engineer at the Institute, provided a comprehensive briefing on AMBILE’s flagship projects, including BHITT.AI and SINDH.AI, along with the development of foundational models for the Sindhi language. These initiatives showcase AMBILE’s pioneering role in language technology innovation at a national level.

In a ceremonial gesture symbolizing Sindhi culture and hospitality, Mr. Buriro presented a handcrafted Ajrak to the honorable guest as a token of appreciation.

During a dedicated meeting, the Vice-Chancellor lauded AMBILE’s groundbreaking work, stating that “institutes like AMBILE are rare in Pakistan, especially those working on computational linguistics for regional languages with such international-standard benchmarks.” He commended the Culture, Tourism, Antiquities & Archives Department, Government of Sindh, for its visionary role in establishing the Institute.

The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to establish a formal academic collaboration. AMBILE will co-supervise final year students of the University of Sindh’s Sindhi Department, offering them real-time engagement in advanced language engineering tasks. This cooperation will extend to postgraduate scholars, paving the way for impactful research and fostering a robust link between academic study and product-oriented innovation.

This visit not only strengthened institutional bonds but also laid the foundation for a scalable and sustainable model of collaboration between the University of Sindh and AMBILE, bringing academic insight and technological advancement together for the promotion and preservation of the Sindhi language in the digital age.
